Mas de las Melgues

Mas de las Melgues is located in the middle of the beautiful, still unspolied nature of Castellon near Culla. This is thé place for lovers of nature and beautiful walks. The house is located on the edge of the beautiful area of El Maestrazgo, a wild, mountainous area with villages on rocks and overwhelmingly beautiful landscapes. It is also the land of the legendary El Cid who went to war against the Moors and after whom many villages are named.

Description of holiday home Mas de las Melgues in Spain

You will feel more than welcome at Mas de las Melgues. The friendly owner Ana, who lives in Valencia city herself, can take care of everything for you: catering of delicious meals with fresh products from the region, a guide who can tell you everything about the flora and fauna or introduce you to the typical products of the region: grape picking and process of making wine, cheese or sausages! But of course you also want to enjoy the lovely house, Ana loves antiques and that is reflected in the special decor.

Surroundings of holiday home Mas de las Melgues

The house is located near the hamlet of El Molinell, about 10 minutes by car from the villages of La Torre d’En Besora and Culla where you will find small supermarkets, a few bars and a restaurant. Towards Culla there’s another restaurant that is only open in summer. For large supermarkets and banks, you can go to the (seaside) towns of Oropesa del Mar, Benicasim (approx. 1 hour by car) and Castellon. Valencia can be reached in 1 hour and 45 minutes. If you prefer unspoilt beaches, they can be found in the La Serra d’Irta Natural Park. Inland you can make trips to Villafranca del Cid (40 minutes by car), the medieval Cantavieja located high on a rock (about 1 hour) and Pitarque (1.5 hours) with waterfall and source of the river of the same name.

Ground floor: living room with fireplace. Open kitchen and dining area. Bedroom with a double bed and an extra bed. Bedroom with two single beds with extra bed. Bathroom with bath-shower combination and toilet. First floor: Bedroom with three single beds.

Tip from La Taha

The owner of the holiday home organizes all kinds of activities to make your holiday even more pleasant, or more active, than it will already be. For example, only if you wish and indicate in advance (nothing is required), you can help with the olive or almond harvest, look for black truffles, and help with beekeeping. A meal service is also available, everything homemade and prepared with great care from local products. The owner is proud of the beautiful surroundings and is happy to share (her knowledge about) the fruits of the land with you. In the summer, she can set up outdoor cinema sessions with cocktail service. Everything exclusively for your group. After booking you will receive the contact details of Ana (the owner) so that you can make arrangements directly with her about which activities you wish to undertake during your stay.

Remarks

• You pay a € 200 deposit on arrival, which you will receive back if you leave the house in good order.
• The nearby house Mas de la Higuera is owned by the same owner and is also rented out by us. Ideal if you want to spend a holiday with a large group.
• If you wish to use the fireplace, you pay € 10 per basket of wood.
• Nearest airport is Valencia (VLC), 1 hour 45 minutes drive.
