Description of this holiday home in Andalusia

The holiday home, which adjoins the owners’ house, has been converted into an attractive holiday residence where you will immediately feel at home. Casa con guiño has its own character. It is decorated with modern furniture and original artwork by international artists. The art hangs and stands in and around the house.

A natural stone terrace has been laid out around the holiday home. Here you can laze in the sun on sun loungers or relax sheltered in the shade of the canopy above one of the dining areas. From the top of the terrace you have a wide view of a seemingly endless valley.

On the side of the house is a plunge pool (2×2 meters) with benches in the water. In hot weather, the bath not only cools you down, but also provides unforgettable moments. While sitting in the water you can drink a glass of wine, read a book, have a good conversation with your travel companion or just dream away in the depths of the valley.

In the evening you will see colorful sunsets, after which the sky becomes dotted with millions of stars. In winter, the valley is sometimes covered in a cloud, while Casa con guiño is still bathed in the sun. The owners Jan and Sjaklien are happy to share information with you about the area and the Spanish culture, restaurants and places of interest. Surroundings of Casa con guiño

Casa con guiño is located in the heart of olive fields near Fuentes de Cesna (Algarinejo) in the province of Granada. It is an excellent base for trips in unspoilt nature, to characteristic pueblos blancos (white villages) such as Iznájar, Montefrio and monumental towns such as Priego de Córdoba and Antequera. After a 15-minute drive you will reach the reservoir of Iznájar. In the immediate vicinity of the holiday home there are various walking routes, right through the olive groves or along babbling brooks and waterfalls.

Due to the favorable location of the house, day trips to the major cultural cities are also possible. In just over an hour you are in Málaga, Jaen, and Córdoba (with its Mezquita) plus Granada (with the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada) are 100 to 150 km from the holiday home. Sports enthusiasts can explore the Sierra de Subbética Natural Park by mountain bike.

Layout of Casa con guiño

The house has its own parking space, from which a stone staircase leads through the front garden to your own front door.

The ground floor: a spacious hall; a living room with modern furniture, a wood burner, and an open (well-equipped) kitchen with large dining table and 4 chairs; a spacious bathroom with 2 sinks, a walk-in shower and toilet. The living room has a glass door to your private terraces with sun loungers, 2 dining areas and the plunge pool.

Upstairs: 2 bedrooms and landing. The main bedroom has a double bed. This room has air conditioning (hot and cold) and a door to a terrace upstairs at the rear of the house. The other bedroom has 2 single box spring beds.

The maximum number of guests at Casa con guiño is 2. The master bedroom is prepared for you. If you do not want to sleep in one room with your travel companion, you have the option of using 2 bedrooms. Before your stay, you can discuss with the owners which beds will be made for you.

Outside: a rock garden with shady trees, herbs in the garden, terraces all around with a dining area (2x a table with 4 chairs) of which 1 covered terrace with dining area, a mirador (view point at the top of the terrace), sun loungers, a plunge pool.

Tip from La Taha

Have lunch or dinner at the Casa Piolas restaurant in nearby Algarinejo. The owner and chef learned this trade in Michelin-starred restaurants and his dishes are truly delicious.
