The Ba\u00f1os del Carmen is an iconic beach and public bath in M\u00e1laga. The complex was built in 1918 and is one of the few surviving examples of a public sea bath from that era. This complex has now been declared ‘Bien de Inter\u00e9s Cultural’ or cultural heritage by the regional government of Andalusia.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Ba\u00f1os del Carmen Spa opened its doors on July 16, 1918. It was an innovative project for that time because, unlike other public baths, it was located in the open sea and exposed to the sun. Following other seaside resorts such as Santander and San Sebasti\u00e1n.<\/p>\n

The success was immediate and the project grew to include a pier, a restaurant, a screen for watching films from the beach, and a tennis court where the first tournament of the sport in M\u00e1laga was held.<\/p>\n

In 1922, the first football field in M\u00e1laga was inaugurated here, as well as a dance floor of over 2,000 square meters. Parties, festivals, regattas and concerts of all kinds were held there, and the gardens contained everything from an aquarium to a fountain from which flowed not water but wine.<\/p>\n

In the 1950s, El Balneario<\/a> organized equestrian events such as the XI National Equestrian Competition held in 1955.<\/p>\n

After decades of decline, El Balneario wanted to restore its former splendor and become what it always was. A place for people who love sun, sea and the Burgundian lifestyle. And it worked!<\/p>\n

A visit to this special complex is well worth it for anyone visiting M\u00e1laga. It is located close to the center and is easily accessible on foot, by bus or car. The seaside promenade is ideal for walking or cycling. Or rent an electric scooter and cruise along the boulevard.<\/p>\n

In other words, Ba\u00f1os del Carmen is a must-see.<\/p>\n
