The capital of Catalonia is Barcelona. The region is located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and has a coastline of 580 kilometers which consists of the Costa Brava, the Costa del Maresme, the Costa del Garraf and the Costa Daurada. Catalonia borders the Comunidad Valenciana to the south, Aragón to the west and France and Andorra to the north. Historically, the French region of Roussillon also belongs to the Principality of Catalonia.

Climate

On the coast, Catalonia has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm summers. Inland, the winters are colder due to the reduced influence of the sea and the presence of mountains. The Catalan Pyrenees, which reach over 3100 meters high, have a mountain climate. The high Pyrenees have a lot of snow in winter and even in summer snow can remain. Pleasant climate on the coast and the cold winters in the mountains, a short distance from Barcelona, ​​attract a lot of summer and winter sports tourism.
