Villanueva de Algaidas

Villanueva de Algaidas is a lively provincial town. Walking among ancient mountains, enjoying the green of the olive groves and the white of the farmhouses or taking a bike ride through nature are just some of the attractions that you can discover in Villanueva de Algaidas.

The town has 3500 year old tombs, the Necropolis de los Alcaides. These archaeological remains show the presence of humans in the city since the Chalcolithic. Two rock hermitages from the 9th century remain in use until 1566, the date the Franciscan monastery was founded and marks the beginning of what is now Villanueva de Algaidas.
