Castro Marim

On top of one hill the castle and on the other a star-shaped fortress. In between are the white houses of Castro Marim, with colored platibandas (edges painted with geometric motifs), roof terraces and decorated chimneys. In the streets that connect the church, castle and fortress in Castro Marim, there are houses that, through their simplicity, reflect the typical architecture of the Algarve. The white is always predominant and is interrupted by radiant ocher and blue tones. The platibandas are decorated with geometric shapes or floral motifs.

Anyone who climbs to the castle of Castro Marim will see the sea on one side and the mountains that stretch to the horizon on the other. The mountains attract many enthusiasts of large nature reserves, who like to observe plants and animals, enjoy walking or cycling or who want to be in close contact with nature.
