Casa Giulia

To reach Casa Giulia you descend, via a country road, towards the lake. The detached holiday home is located in a beautifully landscaped garden, surrounded by olive trees, with a view over Lake Iznajar. The lovely private swimming pool with sun terrace just below it, makes your holiday complete. An extensive welcome pack awaits you on arrival, so that you can immediately start enjoying your holiday. Although your holiday home is located next to that of the owners, your privacy is absolutely guaranteed. The owners take care of the swimming pool and the beautiful garden around the holiday home in the morning at most and then leave you to enjoy your stay in peace.

The private pool is fenced and a maximum of 2 meters deep, ‘toys’ for the pool are provided. Around the house are several terraces and seating areas, so you can find a place to rest in the sun or shade all day long. Free wifi is available in and around the house. Bedding is made of high quality, 500 thread-count Egyptian cotton, beach towels are also available for you. Saves space in the suitcase. During stays longer than a week, towels and bed linen will be changed for you. For the owner, after whom this house is named, nothing is too much for her guests, she is always there for you if needed. She is proud of this lovely holiday home and that is reflected in everything.

Surroundings of Casa Giulia

The beautiful town of Antequera, with its Moorish castle and fortress, is 35 minutes from Iznajar. The prehistoric Dolmen site was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016. The amazing rock formation of El Torcal lies behind Antequera and is accessible via three different hiking routes.

The whitewashed village of Iznájar sits proudly above the turquoise waters of the lake, which bears the same name. It is within an hour of Malaga and Granada and just over an hour from Cordoba. The village flourished in the eighth century when Arab settlers built a castle and called it “Hins Ashar”. Guided tours of the castle are available most days and can be organized at the local tourist office. Stroll through the village and have a coffee somewhere or have a drink with a “tapa” in one of the many traditional bars and restaurants.

At the foot of the village is a sandy beach on the shore of Lake Iznajar, where you can swim in the summer months, rent pedal boats and umbrellas, and eat at the chiringuito. The beach, known locally as Valdearenas, is very popular with walkers and sunbathers. Iznajar is not far from the Sierra Subbetica, a beautiful natural park in the heart of Andalusia and home to over seventy bird species, including Spain’s largest breeding colony of griffon vultures.

Layout of this holiday home

Via a metal gate you reach the terrace of Casa Giulia, immediately left the large swimming pool and behind it a sun terrace with sunbeds. On the right the sunny terrace with dining area and gas barbecue in front of the entrance of the house. You enter the spacious kitchen with dining area, with on the left a laundry room and storage space and a bathroom. Straight ahead the door to a walled terrace at the rear of the house, again with dining area. Inside to the right the living room with comfortable sofas, a fireplace and access to a bedroom with a double bed. This bedroom has direct access to the terrace through French doors. On the first floor, accessible via the marble staircase, on the right side of the landing a bedroom with 2 single beds and a small en suite bathroom. On the other side of the landing a very spacious bedroom with a 2-person box spring and en suite bathroom with bath, toilet and sink. This room also has a spacious balcony with seating and a view of the lake.

Remarks

• Access road, last few hundred meters, requires an experienced driver.
• Nearest airport is Granada (GRX) at 45 minutes, Malaga (AGP) can be reached in 50 minutes.
