An old barn converted into a gem of a holiday home. Almost everything in and around the house is made or built by the owner himself. The dining table is an old pellet from Estonia with which stones were transported, for which a beautiful steel base was made by the owner of Granero Viejo. He also built the bed himself, so he was able to make storage space for your luggage in the bottom. The interior of Granero Viejo has been put together with great care and attention to detail, so the quality leaves nothing to be desired!
Layout of Granero Viejo
On arrival, park your car under the carport, and then walk via the gravel path to the first seating area in the beautiful garden. Then on your right the stairs that lead to the entrance of the studio. With on the left the wooden door to the kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, grill and kettle. To the right of the front door you will find your gas barbecue with grill and 1 gas burner.
Inside you will find a bed of 150×190 cm. with storage space underneath, a wood-burning stove, several sofas with silk cushions, a bookcase with English books that are all designed for relaxing, disconnecting completely from the world; press the pause button.
At the back of the studio a step with a sliding door on the left to the toilet with sink and on the right the spacious rain shower. A hanging rail serves as a wardrobe. Beyond the entrance of the holiday studio, a large pebbled terrace, with an adjacent rock garden. Here you will find the spacious dining area for two, 2 easy chairs and a romantic sitting area with comfortable cushions under the oak tree, which provides pleasant shade. A swing, plunge pool and hammock complete the picture. The view from your terrace is simply unparalleled.
Surroundings of the holiday home
Directly from the holiday home you can take beautiful walks through the olive fields, with a view of Lake Iznajar. Within walking distance you will find a B&B where you can enjoy a delicious dinner after reservation. Iznajar is a 10-minute drive away, in the middle of Andalusia’s largest reservoir where you can take boat trips or practice various water sports. The beach of the lake is ideal for a day of sunbathing.
In Iznajar itself you will find a variety of nice restaurants and tapas bars, shops and several small supermarkets. The Scottish owners of Granero Viejo are happy to give you tips for a day trip to, for example, Granada, Malaga or Cordoba; all 3 within 1 to one and a half hours drive from your holiday accommodation. But of course you can also just choose to curl up under the oak tree with a good book.
Remarks
– If you really want to get away from everyday life, the owners will happily turn off the WiFi for you!
– The nearest airport is Malaga (AGP), about 50 minutes drive.

Amazing place, fantastic views, great people
I’ve spend 7 days in Granero Viejo. The hosts are great people, very helpful and caring. You can enjoy the fantastic views of the valley, olive trees around, and slow life in its pure form. I definitely recommend this place if one needs to disconnect from crazy life in the city.
