5 reasons to go on holiday to Spain

5 reasons why going on holiday to Spain is a good idea, according to Naomi from La Taha.

  1. Spanish cuisine

Tapas and paella, but also churros and sardines are those typical Spanish dishes and snacks that everyone knows. Mediterranean cuisine consists mostly of meat and fish, and few vegetables. The dinner plates are generally simple, but that says nothing about the quality of Spanish cuisine. Fresh is réally fresh in Spain. “Caught this morning, on your plate tonight” is still common here, especially on the coast.

Our favorite: whole bream from the oven or the grill. A salad from the house to accompany it and you have a delicious, healthy meal.

  1. Flamenco

Flamenco is an inseparable part of Spanish culture. The passionate dance and music have an enormously compelling effect. Since the Spanish audience is at least as passionate as the people performing flamenco, attending a show is an experience to remember. If you have the chance to experience a performance during your holiday in Spain, don’t miss it.

Our favorite: without a doubt the very talented flamenco dancer Maria Juncal. She also regularly visits theaters abroad.

  1. Wine

Spain is one of the largest wine producers in the world, so the offer is very diverse. We all know the red wines from Rioja, and the sherry from Jerez, but white wines are much less known. We recommend that you order a bottle from the Riaz Baixes wine region with your dinner.

Our favorite: Terras Gauda 2022 (70% Albariño, 23% Caiño blanco, 7% Loureiro)

  1. Festivals and other celebrations

Spaniards love a party. Every town and village has its own ferias and fiestas and they are celebrated in a big way without exception.

Our favorite: Feria de Abril in Sevilla. The April festivities are seen as the most famous and exuberant celebrations in Andalusia. Usually these parties are held two weeks after Semana Santa, so not necessarily in April. Don’t miss out if you have the chance.

  1. Art and art history

Spain has a rich art history, with many world famous artists such as Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Francisco Goya and Diego Velázquez. There are many museums in Spain where visitors can enjoy art by the masters mentioned.

Our favorite: Museo Pablo Picasso in Malaga
