Although there are not many left to be seen in the streets, face masks are still mandatory in Spain in some places. We sincerely hope that you do not have to go to a doctor or pharmacy during your holiday, but these are places where you are expected to still wear a fee mask. We list for you the places where the obligation still applies (August 2022).
Hospitals: staff, visitors and patients (outside their own room) must wear a mask.
Medical centres: in this definition this includes pharmacies, physiotherapists, dentists, centers for the elderly, retirement homes, etc. Employees and visitors must wear masks in public areas. Residents in retirement homes are not required to wear a face mask.
Public transport: the train, metro, tram, bus, transfer bus, taxi, boat, cruise and in the plane. You no longer have to wear a face mask at the stations and in the airport, but it is still recommended to do so.
By the way, you can buy a face mask at most supermarkets, so if you caught off guard that is a solution. After all, you no longer have to wear face masks in the supermarket. Stores of the supermarket chains Mercadona and Día certainly have face masks on the shelves.
