Casa Vieja

Casa Vieja is part of an ancient cortijo. Cortijos are old farms or country houses built around a courtyard, this is also the case with this holiday home in Andalusia.

Casa Vieja, holiday at a riding school

Casa Vieja used to be a barn, which served as storage for the old farm. The other rooms of the cortijo, such as the stable and barn further up the field, have also been transformed into nice holiday homes. As this is a very large cortijo, all holiday homes have their own walled terrace with barbecue, dining table and lounge sofas in front of the door. The large courtyard of the cortijo serves as a communal space. Here you will find, for example, a large dining table and a fish pond, under the large trees is a wonderful spot to relax on a hot summer day. In the courtyard is also the entrance to the large heated swimming pool with 8 sun loungers, with behind it the jacuzzi. The courtyard and the swimming pool are separated by a high wall, with a gate that can be closed; safe for the little ones.

Next to the cortijo is the equestrian center with ten horses, almost all of them rescued from an unpleasant situation. You are cordially invited to admire these beautiful animals, perhaps you would even like to take a trip with one of them? This holiday home is the ultimate place for youngsters who love horses, and their parents. If you also rent Casa Caballo, you can stay here with 6 adults and 2 children; on holiday together, yet each family has its own home.

Layout of Casa Vieja

When you have parked your car under one of the shady trees on arrival, you walk up a stone staircase and through a gate into the courtyard of the cortijo. Your private terrace is behind the first gate on the left. Here you will find a dining area, lounge sofas and a gas barbecue. Through the front door you enter the living room of Casa Vieja with a wood burner, nice seating area and dining area for several people. Straight ahead is the small, yet complete kitchen. To the right you will reach a double room with a choice of 2 single beds or a double bed. The bathroom with shower, toilet and sink is also located on the ground floor. Via a narrow spiral staircase you reach the loft, here are another 2 single beds, but due to the low ceiling they are really only suitable for children with a maximum age of about 12 years. The courtyard through which you entered is dedicated for general use. Mature trees give shade to the long dining table and various seating areas. Seen across from your holiday home, behind the high wall is the large, heated swimming pool, also for general use + a jacuzzi. The equestrian center can also be reached via the courtyard, this intimate holiday resort is a very special place!

Tip from La Taha

Take a day trip with one of the horses of the cortijo, the owners, who have rescued and/or adopted all the horses, are happy to go out with you in this beautiful area.
