This holiday home near Iznajar and its beautiful lake is part of an ancient farm, or cortijo, which today consists of 3 separate houses. Casa Priego Doce owes its name to the river on which it is located and the fact that this holiday home is suitable for a maximum of 12 people. If you rent Casa Priego Doce, you will have access to 2 of the 3 houses (the owners live in the 3rd house) and you will have the large swimming pool all to yourself!

Iznajar, a 5-minute drive from the holiday home, is an impressive village, built on top of a mountain, in the middle of the largest reservoir in Andalusia. To reach Iznajar from the south or north, you always have to cross a (long) bridge. Boat trips are organized on the lake, and there is a beach with a restaurant, a nice place to spend a summer day. The largest nearest village is Rute, about a fifteen minute drive away, where you will find larger supermarkets and various museums. All the museums in Rute are food or drink related; for example, there is an anise, ham, sugar and chocolate museum to visit. One hour from Casa Priego Doce you can reach larger cities such as Cordoba, Granada and Malaga. Great base to visit these royal cities.

Casa Priego Doce consists of 2 separate houses

The small house is all on one floor, you park in front of your terrace with dining area and lounge sofas + stone barbecue. There is a carport next to the house, and the parking space is large enough for at least 4 cars. Through the front door you reach the long hallway, with on the right entering the living room with sofas, TV and wood burner. On the left the spacious kitchen, with dining area and all the equipment you could wish for. In the kitchen a door leads outside which gives access to the heart of the cortijo, the courtyard, where the entrance to the large house is located.

Further down the corridor on both sides a bedroom for 2 persons, one with a double bed and one with two single beds. At the end of the hallway the shared, modern bathroom with sink, toilet and walk-in shower. The large swimming pool can be reached from the outside via a staircase at the rear of the house, or via the top floor of the neighboring house. The house is as it were built against the hill, hidden between stone walls and the hillside, so that it is always nice and cool in the summer and pleasantly warm in the winter.

After arrival you enter the house through an iron gate that leads to the courtyard, as befits the courtyard of a cortijo you will find several doors here. One of these doors takes you into the kitchen, where you will find all the necessary appliances including a dishwasher and a Dolce Gusto coffee machine. As a welcome gift, a bottle of wine and cold beers are waiting for you here. The courtyard itself forms the dining room of the holiday home, under a lean-to there is a dining table for 8 people and a seating area to enjoy your morning coffee. A large charcoal barbecue has also been given a spot in the courtyard. Other doors give access to a bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom with shower and toilet and the living room.

From the living room you reach a 2nd bedroom for 2 people. The guests of this bedroom would use the bathroom across the courtyard. The old stone staircase takes you to the first floor with 2 bedrooms for 2 persons, a very spacious bathroom with walk-in shower, toilet and double sink. On this floor there is also a landing which provides access to the large terrace with swimming pool at the back of the house.

Tip from La Taha

Book a cruise of the lake with Andalucian Laketours. Departures are in principle every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 11.30 am from the beach of Iznajar, a 5-minute drive from your holiday home. This is a very nice way to discover Iznajar and its beautiful nature. A chilled picnic basket is available in your holiday home on request to enjoy a drink and snack during your boat trip. The captain of the boat speaks excellent English.
