The term hacienda means estate, and is mainly used in Latin America to denote a large agricultural or livestock ranch. This holiday home in Andalusia has also been given the title hacienda as it is located on an estate. The complete hacienda is called Hacienda Don Esteban, and this holiday home for up to 4 people is called Poniente.
The beautiful wooden beamed ceiling gives Poniente a warm, yet modern look. Poniente is located in the lower part of the gardens of Hacienda Don Esteban, next to Levante (also a detached holiday home for 4 people). Detached holiday home Al Sur (for rent for a maximum of 6 people) is located higher on the property, next to the communal swimming pool and sun terrace. Holiday home Poniente is equipped with central heating, and therefore also in autumn and winter a very comfortable holiday accommodation.
According to legend, the Moorish army commander Tariq won the battle in this area in 711, which paved the way to conquer the Iberian Peninsula from Morocco. In this nature reserve the river makes its last kilometers to the sea and otters and ospreys have their hunting grounds. Migratory birds rest here on their journey to Africa, a colony of storks nests in the pine trees on the hills. On a clear day you have a view of the hills around Tangier and the Rif Mountains behind.
Surroundings Hacienda Don Esteban – Poniente
Vejer de la Frontera, just 10 minutes away, is a well-preserved white Andalusian village with plenty of Moorish architecture, a castle, whitewashed streets, restaurants, bars and shops. Kilometers of golden beaches between Zahara de los Atunes and the seaside resort of Conil. Tuna is caught according to the traditional method of the Almadraba and served in the countless fish restaurants.
Visit Los Alcornocales Natural Park, its colonies of vultures and petroglyphs. Gibraltar with its famous monkeys. Restored Roman town of Baelo on the beautiful beach of Bolonia. Cádiz with fish restaurants and numerous bars is also within easy reach.
Hacienda Don Esteban is an ideal holiday spot for walkers, cyclists, and nature lovers. Montenmedio Golf and Horse Center is 5 minutes away. Golf enthusiasts have a choice of golf courses at Benalup and Chiclana. Surfers and kite surfers have the beaches around Cape Trafalgar or at Tarifa. In Barbate and Tarifa you can enjoy diving, and whale watching in the Strait of Gibraltar. Taking the fast ferry from Tarifa to Morocco to visit Tangier or Asilah is a holiday experience in itself!

Detached four-person apartment equipped with 2 bedrooms with private shower and toilet, living room with an open, modern fitted kitchen. Both detached apartments (Levante and Poniente) have plenty of privacy with their own spacious veranda terraces and a view of a separate garden area.

Prettige ontvangst met veel informatie
Prima huis. Vooral was prettig dat de uitrusting erg compleet was en dat huis erg schoon was. Omgeving weids.
Uitstekend
Wij zijn inmiddels 7 keer met La Taha in de Costa del Sol geweest, klopte altijd, van harte aanbevolen.
Goed is een understatement.
Het huis was geweldig; we waren er helemaal weg van. Geweldig uitzicht, fijn terras, goed zwembad, zeer prettige inrichting, comfortabel. – Juni 2014 –
Het huisje was fantastisch!
Heel compleet, heel plezierig, ruim en schoon. Prachtig gebied voor natuur en cultuurliefhebbers. Strand was waanzinnig. Begrijp niet waarom iemand nog ergens anders heengaat.
We hebben genoten!
Een zeer goede en leuke vakantie in een prettige en mooie omgeving. Het uitzicht op natuurgebied is super. Het enige minpunt vind ik het feit dat er maar één wasmachine aanwezig is voor alle drie de woningen en dat deze maar gedurende een beperkte periode te gebruiken is (tussen 10.00 en 14.00 uur). Zeker met een klein kind is dat niet altijd handig. Maar dat weegt niet erg zwaar vandaar ook de goede beoordeling.
